Question
my ankles are swollen like golf balls, right in front of the ankle bone and maybe a little passed the bone, but not around the front or innerside of my ankle. Is this arthritis or something more serious? The right one is much worse than the left one.
It doesn't hurt to touch it....                        I'm 55,female, and have waited on tables,at Walt Disney World for 37years and i'm wondering if they are just worn out...........thank you

Answer
Holly,

Osteoarthritis is worn out joints. But this does not sound like that. There are many things that can cause the symptoms you describe. Some of these are bone spurs, other types of arthritis, bone fractures and several others. The best thing to do is to see your doctor. Most of the things that can cause the symptoms are treatable. But left untreated they can cause permanent damage.

Carly,

Ra does not usually effect muscles. There are autoimmune disorders that can. The best thing to do is to see your doctor. It could be something as simple as a mineral deficiency or signs of something more serious.
