Question
Hi my name is Christy, I have been having pain in both hands, knees, ankles and neck with swelling around the joints not specifically in the joints.  I've noticed my hair is coming out.  Sore pretty much all over.  I get really lightheaded, dizzy and start sweating at times especially when shopping or outside in the sun.  I have seen my FMD and he really didn't know what was going on other than to tell me it was something viral or maybe early signs of Lupus.  He did some basic blood work that was all normal other than the BUN/Creatine level was slightly elevated at 7.3.  I seen a Rheumotologist Wednesday and he said maybe Fibromyalgia.  He did some more blood work. I follow up with him next Wednesday but, I have a copy of my lab report and some things are abnormal and they are:

Unless otherwise listed, other tests were normal, these are all the abnormal labs:

BUN/Creatine: 7.3 H
C-Reactine Protein: 5.9 H
Parvovirus B19, IgG: 6.2 H
Vitamin D, 25-Hydroxy: 10.5 L
EBV Early Antigen Ab, IgG: >8.0 H
EBV Ab VCA, IgG: >8.0 H
EBV Nuclear Antigen Ab, IgG: 8.0 H

Please help, I don't want to worry all weekend....

Thank you. Christy

Answer
Lab tests in these diseases are used to support a diagnosis that the doc makes based on history, symptoms, and what she sees at your visit(s).  Worrying about these results on your own won't get you any closer to a resolution.  Make note of your questions and any other symptoms going on - concentrate on writing down as much info as you can think of to help her compile a complete record.

I know it's scary but don't waste a weekend worrying.  Go out with friends, see family - whatever will be the most supportive and relaxing thing for you to do.  Distraction is good! And go to your new doc ready to work with her to find an answer.
