Husband Knee Pain- Finger non movement

Question
Rusty:
My husband has  bad knee pain. It just started when he worked more from home. I was assuming it was from sitting so long at his computer and not getting up and taking lond strolls to get a bite to eat or to the restroom. The pain is on the sides of his left knee. It is a constant throb/ache. Could this be rhumetoid arthritis? He has two fingers that will not bend in his right hand, his pinky & the ring finger.  We think we have caught this early, but what can we do to prevenmt or put this into remission?
Thank you,
Valerie

Answer
Valerie,

It is doubtful that this is Rheumatoid Arthritis. RA is an autoimmune disease that tends to attack many joints in the body and is seldom limited to just two fingers and knees.

The only way to know for sure is to see a doctor.

This sounds more like osteoarthritis. This type of arthritis is caused by wear and tear on a joint or a trauma to a joint.

There are natural treatments over the counter drugs and prescriptions drugs available to treat arthritis but it is best to understand exactly what you are treating to be able to decide which is the best treatment program. To do this you need a diagnosis. So it is advisable for a trip to the doctor to be in your husbands near future.

Mean while exercise is recommended for all types of arthritis. Inactivity only makes the pain worse.

I wish you and your husband the best.
