Question
I had blood work for hand tremors and leg pain. Some of my blood work came back and I had a ssa of 319 and positive for ana. I do not have any symptoms of lupis but I am concern. Should I be worried.

Answer
Blood testing in lupus, like in scleroderma, is to support a diagnosis by your rheumatologist made by symptoms, observation, and history.  For instance, when I went to my rheumy with swollen hands which she could see, fatigue which I reported, and Raynaud's that I'd had the previous year and seen my general physician for, she ordered tests.  Interestingly, she didn't decide scleroderma until I went to a dermatologist and had a skin biopsy, so even the signs and symptoms and tests weren't enough evidence for her.

This is a great reference and explanation for ANA tests.

Continue to work with your doc until the symptoms and the tests come together to give you a diagnosis you can work with.  Better than worry, use the time to keep a journal of your symptoms and what's going on when they occur.  For instance, if you have pain in both wrists after doing a lot of chopping for cooking, write it down, and include how and when it's relieved.  Did you need to take something?  What was it? How long did you have to rest your arms for it to go away?  This can help your doc to get a more total picture of what's happening.
