Left Ring finger Joint

Question
My left ring finger is swollen really bad. I've had pain in that whole hand for a couple weeks. It started out tingling like I slept on it. Mid last week my finger started to hurt really bad at work (while typing). This Saturday I woke up and it was huge! I'm sure I didn't jam it on anything because I get my nails done and I'm really anal about keeping them nice including not hitting my hands so I would remember.  I've been taking aspirin and trying not to use it. I'm only 20 I shouldn't have these issues yet! My supervisor is a nurse and she said to ice it, but I think she just doesn't want me to miss work..

Answer
Ella,

Sorry to take so long getting back to you. I was ill the last couple of days and did not get on the computer.

You are never to young for the symptoms you describe. This is something worth seeing a doctor about. There are several things it can be. It could be caused by an allergic reaction, infection, or some form of arthritis. The only way to find out the cause is to see a doctor.
