Question
Dear Doctor,

I noticed today that I have about a 1 inch area of swelling on the lower side of one of my knees. It feels very soft and fluidy. There is no pain and I did not injur it.

What possible causes are for this?

Thank you,
Kevin

Answer
Kevin,

It is hard to say without seeing it. It can be caused by types of arthritis or tendinitis. It can be caused by over use or inflammation that is just now showing up from a previous injury. It should disappear on its own. If it has not in a couple of day or it gets worse you should see a doctor.
