Risks associated with the removal of Knowles pin

Question
I underwent surgery about 27 years ago for a dislocated hip , I suffered at the age of 13.  The Knowles pin was used to correct the problem. A year ago I started experiencing pain in the same area and was given pain medication by a physician . The pain continued and I was advised to have an X-ray done, which I did. It was discovered that one of the pins had moved and that I should have the pins removed. I was also informed by the Orthopedic Surgeon that the surgery can not be done locally, because there is no equipment on that island to conduct that type of surgery. I was advised to seek the advice of an international Orthopedic Surgeon as there might be some risks involved.

In foot and ankle surgery & other areas, minimal incision surgery techniques are being used.
Knowles pin may be difficult to remove. I suggest to contact. the authors of these studies & visit one of their recommendations-or ask who does  the same or similar technique.
