Question
Hello:
I am writing a novel in which, during a struggle, our young hero gets a simple fracture of the radius. I would like to know if the writing is accuate:
I said that his hand hurts him. (Is this where he would feel pain?)
If he walks into the hospital this way, what would happen next? What  dept would they take him, what type of doctor would treat him, and what would they do? What are the logical steps the hospital would take when he steps in and leaves?
I would appreciate any information.

Answer
Dear Demetrius,

This Chicago, South Loop & Elmhurst Podiatrist of AnklenfootCenters.com says.......

A simple fracture  of the ulna
     http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radius_%28bone%29
may be better-It is the small bone and your character would be able to move better.
After going to the ER the doctor on call would order xrays based on the history given and the exam findings.
If the xray shows a fracture-read by the radiologist on call-then the orthopedic surgeon gets called in to treat the fracture.
The ER Doc would then maybe apply a splint to the arm and administer pain meds if necessary.

Hope this Helps &
Good Luck!
