Question
Hi...was playing tennis last night and torqued by body which caused what I hope is only a strain or pull in my hamstring.  It is higher up, under the buttocks area.  I have stopped tennis for the next 2 weeks but would like to know how soon I can do other exercise like biking or walking.  Normally I work out 4-5 times a week, so I don't want to neglect exercise as soon as it is possible but I don't want to reinjure either.  Other helpful information on how to deal with this injury would be appreciated.

Answer
Without knowing what the problem is I can not give you accurate advice on how to best deal with it. Your best bet is to see a medical professional about it.

Karen,
I am sorry that you were disappointed by my answer however, I feel it is unethical to give specific advice on a persons problem over the internet. I do not want to tell you something that could be wrong or detrimental to you. Many times people think they have a hamstring injury and it is referred pain from another area (low back, hip etcetera.) Musculoskeletal complains can also be caused by a systemic or medical disorder and a proper screen can not be performed over the internet.  Without examining you I can not be sure that my advice is sound and I don't want to give you incorrect advice.

Adam
