Question
Hi! I'm 16 year old girl and I'm very athletic. I inline speed skate, captain of cross country, track and field, and lacrosse, play hockey, road/mountain bike, and do other stuff. I'm having a problem with my right hip. Even if I just walk it will pop! It kills me when I run. It feels like its coming out then grinding back into place; if it even does go back into place because it often stays out of socket so I have to force it back in. I went to a doctor and he took an Xray and said everything was fine. Umm... I think not. My hip just feels so weak and hurts so badly. Im used to running a 22 minute 3 mile, but lately its been difficult to even run a 24 if I can even finish. If you know anything that could help me I would really appreciate it! Thanks! :)

Answer
I can't give you a diagnosis over the internet but I would suggest that you see an orthopedic surgeon. There are many things that can go wrong at the hip that will not show up on an x-ray. An MRI may be able to shed some light on your problem. I would be suspicious of the labrum but it could be something else.
