Hip Replacement Pain

Question
Hi,

My boyfriend had a total hip replacement 4 months ago.  He is still in severe pain especially in his groin area.  His doctor said there might have been some nerve damage or that the nerve may have been cut, but she wants to wait until his next visit, which isn't until the end of March before she addresses the issue.  He is only 44 years old. Sometimes hd cannot walk due to severe pain and he is completely unable to have sex.  Is this normal?  Thank you.

Nerve damage can take up to 18 months to heal.  Four months is a relatively short time to bounce back from hip surgery.  I would not push the sex at this time, and wait the four months to see if he improves, as your doctor suggests.
