Question
Hi Sharon,
I would like to know what I can do to help my dad,67 years old, to help him ease his back pain.   He had his right hip replaced over a year ago, recovery went fine, his leg does not hurt any more, though he complains of back pain and not being able to stay standing on his feet for a few moments before his back hurts.   His Dr. told him that because his previous condition he developed scoliosis and that is the reason for his pain now.  What is the risk of using an inversion table for his hip prosthesis?, do you think a device like that can do him any good?, could you recommend any type of exercise/therapy to help him?   He does not reside in the USA.
Best Regards,
Francisco

Answer
Dear Francisco

It might be a good first step to see if your dad's legs are the same length.  If one leg is shorter than the other, that alone may be causing him pain.

As far as exercise, I am not a therapist so I can't help with that, you might want to ask his doctor.  I wish I could be of further help, but I think your father needs a professional in field to help him due to his special circumstances.
