Question
At the end of May I had hip repair for fractured left hip. A stainless steel plate was "implanted" with a rod.
What is the difference between use of titanium and / or stainless steel?-----

Answer
Hello Michael

You meed to speak with your doctor and find out which components were used in the socket, liner, and rod.  Stainless steel tends to last the longest, but the ceramic hips last a nice long time also.  These days there are so many different options to individualize the replacements to the needs of the patients, that many patients may have different types of steels, plastics or titanium in one replacement.

Talk to your doctor and find out what your components are made of.  Once you find out all the components, check out this website, and you should have all your questions addressed.  Your doctor can also answer further questions.

Once you speak to your doctor and get more specific information this website might help you with the information you are looking for:
