Question
hi,
I've been drumming for 6 months using wronge foot technique, and its left both my knees feeling very weak and loose and sometimes  unstable (ahh and im only 17 years old and a soccer player). its felt like this for about a month but there is not alot of pain now, although when i stand for about 30mins my legs begin to hurt. and now they click alot. but i have no problem walking or running its just they feel really loose. im just wondering how serious this problem is, and what i should do to get back to normal.(ive been researching online, and apparently ive torn a ligament..hope not)

thanks doc

Answer
Bobby,

I do not think you have a torn ligament from what you are describing BUT if you have any questions go see a local orthopedic surgeon they may be able to do several manual or hands on test to rule out a ligament tear or an MRI if needed but they can be misleading depending on who reads them and the software used etc...

As a soccer player I would think you would have a strong pair of legs unless you have had knee injuries in the past.
What do you mean by drumming? please clarify that for me.

Providing you do not have any injuries or swelling of the knees that comes and goes there are a host of good exercises that should strengthen your legs namely leg extensions and squats.

Could have some cartilage damage in there but again that has to be determined first at your age possibly unlikely.

Again I do not thinks its serious and do not believe you could run at all if your ACL was damaged though it will give you a feeling as if you knee is very loose and unstable.

Check with a local orthopedic surgeon.
