Question
Here is some background. I was born with a club foot and very slight scoliosis. I have never had to many problems out of it other than a slight limp and the foot still turning in slightly when I walk. The leg is also smaller than my other leg as well as the foot and there is almost no calf muscle I actually can barely flex what little bit of calf is there. Recently I have had pain in my heel after work. I work on retail so I spend my work day standing on concrete. I also like to cycle a lot both mountain biking and road. I have also developed some swelling in a small area on the back of my ankle. I believe it may be Achilles tendonitis but I'm not sure. I'm hoping you can help with what I might be able to do to help this I do not want to give up any of my activities as I like to stay as active as possible . thank you

Answer
Dear Cory,

This Orthopedic Chicago Podiatrist located in West Loop 60661,Roscoe Village 60618, Ukrainian Village 60622, Elmhurst 60126 & Bartlett 60103 says,

Go see a good Board Certified podiatrist for your suspected Achilles tendinitis. Some times an orthotic with a lift, or shoe modifications may help with limb length inequalities & the problems you're describing. A sports ankle brace may also be used, but take care of the limb length discrepancy and get a good diagnosis as to any limited joint movements (biomechanics, which will help in choosing the best treatment. Limb length discrepancies involve biomechanics.
Hope this helps & Good Luck!
