Question
Dr. Tsatsos,

I had a screw put in my 5th metatarsal 12 weeks ago. I am finally out of my boot and have a carbon insert in my shoe. My question is if it is normal to still have pain when walking?  Thanks!

Answer
Dear Debbie,

This Orthopedic Chicago Podiatrist located in West Loop 60661, Roscoe Village 60618, Ukrainian Village 60622, Elmhurst 60126 & Bartlett 60103 says,
There are many factors that can cause pain after 5th metatarsal surgery, e.g excessive walking or weight, additional time to heal, etc.
Your best bet is to discuss this  with your surgeon.
Hope this helps & Good Luck!
