cryo surgery for neuroma

Question
I have had 2 neuroma surgeries, 1 in each foot between 3-4 toes.  Left foot healed beautifully - good as new- .  Right foot - not so good- Still have the numbing buzzing and nerve pain.  At first, 2 cortizone shots would alleviate the pain for a good year. More recently I have  had SEVERAL alcohol and cortizone shots and have gotten zero releif.  Hard to pinpoint exactly where pain is but a recent ultrasound shows another neuroma at toes 2-3 ( 5 centimeters does that sound right?) and NO stump neuroma at original site.  I am a very active individual and this is preventing me from working out at the gym the way I like to  not to even mention the who high heel thing for work.   I am in constant pain.. I am intrigued by your success with cryosurgery.I am located in Long Island NY and want to know if you know of any pods that perform it in the downstate NY area.. including Manhattan?
thank you

Answer
Hi Janie,

It sounds like cryosurgery would be a good option for your neuroma.  It is important that your dr makes a proper diagnosis to locate the exact nerve.  The measurements of the neuroma would likely in millimeters or maybe .5 centimeters, hard to say.  A neuroma can be seen on ultrasound but a nerve block is needed to make sure that the appropriate nerve is identified.  Stump neuroma can easily be missed on ultrasound and again a nerve block(anesthetic) would be more helpful in making the diagnosis.

I do not personally know cryosurgeons in NY.  Go to this site and check "drs by state" tab
