Question
My husband suffers from spinal spasm in the lower region of his spine, but the pain is acute in his right thigh, what can be done to prevent recurrence and to ease the pain. He is comfortable when sat or lying down. Pain very acute when he has to load bear ie standing. Gp has given him Diazepam 2mg and Tramadol 50mg but these seem to be having no effect. Can you help?

Answer
sorry, janet- thought i'd answered this question!

seems like something that might be helped with some physical therapy- if there is no problem with the bones or the discs and it is all muscle related, I'd check about getting into a physical therapist who could talk to him about massage or stretches and exercise. further there may be a problem with how he's standing that is exascerbating the symptoms

I'd think those meds would be making him into a zombie while possibly not doing much for the problem, but that's just a guess...

good luck, and i apologize again for the delayed response-
leslie
