Question
Over New Years i put my neck out and went to my chiropractor and after a few adjustments my neck started feeling fine but on one appointment (Jan 6) when i got adjusted not long after I started feeling a tingling in the tip of my thumb.  It's not numb just a slight tingle.  So i went back the following week hoping to get adjusted and that the tingling would go away but it didn't so now it has been 2 weeks.   From time to time I will get almost like an ache down my whole arm and the tingling is there almost all the time in my thumb.  I was told that maybe there is still swelling from being adjusted and that could be pinching on the nerve and to keep icing my neck which i have been.  I just want to know what i should do at this point.  I didn't have the tingling till i got adjust at one visit and now it won't go away.  Just would like your thoughts on this.  Don't know if i should still keeping going back to my chiropractor or not?

Thanks,

Julie

Answer
You have a pinched nerve and could have done it when you initially hurt your neck. It sounds like you saw the chiropractor but only 1 or. 2 times a week. If you have arm pain and numbness then you should be seeing your chiropractor 2-3 x a week for a few weeks at least. If the numbness or tinglin or arm pain persists after 4-6 weeks get an MRI of your neck.
