L5-S1 mild posterior disc bulge

Question
I just had a MRI on my LSpine.
The report reads L5-S1-mild posterior disc buldge that slightly reduced Ap dimension of the canal.  IT is slightly eccentric to the left.
At L4-L5 ther eis a mild disc buldge that slightly
reduced Ap dimension of the canal.  It minimally deforms the tecal sac.
At the L3 L4 there is a small central nd right sided relatively broad based disc protrusion that resutls in  mild right lateral recess stenosis.
In regards to rt. lower exr5emity radicular symptomatology, I think the most significatn find is a right sided disc protrusion.
What does all of this mean? Thank you for your time.

Answer
Marybeth,

It means that your back muscles are so tight that they're pulling your vertebrae too closely together. The disc compression is narrowing the spinal canal and causing the discs to bulge.  Nerve roots are being entrapped and squeezed, causing symptoms in your leg.

Please see the articles on back pain at somatics.com/page4.htm, for an understanding of the situation and a non-surgical solution.

with regard,
Lawrence Gold
