i had a c5 fusion 2 years ago. ive tried lyrica injection muscle stimulator chiropractic pain pills muscle relaxers going to pt now and using a tens unit seen 6 dr all say they dont know whats wrong theripst wants me to ask dr about rsd.so can you tell me anything?getting tired of constant pain. thanks

Answer
RSD is reflex sympathetic dystrophy and I feel that it is a catch-all medical term for a pain that can't be specified.  The type of pain is nerve damage related and is typically a burning, tingling, pins-and-needles kind of feeling.

The more common term is now Regional Pain Disorder and it involves treatment by a multidisciplinary team consisting of a doctor, nurse, physical therapist, occupational therapist, psychologist, and sometimes a social worker.

Various treatments and combinations of treatments can be used for pain management of regional pain disorder including medications, TENS units, massage, physical therapy, acupuncture, and relaxation techniques.

I recommend talking with your physician about seeing a pain management team in your area.  You have the right as a patient to have your pain issues addressed.

Thank you for your question, Patricia.  I hope that my answer was helpful.
