Question
was in an a auto accident and for the past 6 months severe chronic back pain, thoracic area. mostly starts up after bending or sitting for more then 5 minutes.  I have had 2 MRI show bulging disk 4 in my neck and 4 inmy back, I have numbing happening in my right leg, actually most all the pain is on the right side. I have also had an injection epedural since then I have been worse. And they say they have no idea whats wrong.  what can I do.

Answer
Hi, Melissa,

There is a universal response to injury:  we tighten up.  It's a response of the nervous system to pain and powerful forces.

Disc bulges and sciatica are consequences of such muscular contractions.

Please see my article, Completing Your Recovery from an Injury at somatics.com/page4.htm, and also articles on back pain.

That will give you some clarity.
