Question
my son whom is in his second year of college went to work out at the college gym a couple weeks back. He says he hurried through the work out. But he says he didn't worm up and rushed through the work out. He then says that he was doing his weight lifting in the slightly layied back position when all of a sudden he had a rush up brain in the back of his head. He then stopped and didn't do any more. HE said the pain felt like if he had had a very cold drink and very very bad freeze brain. You know like when you drink a cold milk shake to fast and then your head hurt right after. Well he said it was worse then then. So a week later he goes to Six Flags and on his first ride, he felt the same pain again. WE got two opinions saying that he should only do cardio work out and not weight lifting for three weeks. What do you think he did?

Answer
Hi, Mia.

I think your son provoked a muscle spasm from improper workout technique.  Three weeks with his current approach to weight training won't help; I believe he'll have the same problem, again.

I'd have him read the articles on weight training and on stretching at somatics.com/page4.htm.  They will be new information for him.

Lawrence Gold
