Chronic nack spasm

Question
I have been having a neck spasm for the past eight years. My neck and trapezius always feel tight and in the morning I feel stiff when I wake up. I get headaches all the time. I have gone to 3 chiropractors, physical therapy twice, injections, massage therapy, muscle relaxors. My doctor says I don't have arthritis or fibromyalgia even though I think something is wrong with me. No one can give me an answer. My x rays were pretty normal. Can tell what I have, what I can do?

Answer
Hi Jessie,

There are many things that can cause chronic neck spasms such as poor posture, a bad pillow, lack of physical exercise and stress. If you have been suffering from neck pain and headaches for the past eight years it may be caused by your posture. Balancing out your shoulder muscles, neck muscles, and back muscles with exercises can help combat the neck spasms. I would recommend that you find a chiropractor who can determine the main cause of your neck pain and headaches and can also provide exercises, stretches, muscle release therapy and activity recommendations.

I hope this helps!

Dr. Liza
