Question
There are so many questions about this topic and some have cleared things up but not everything. I had a weightlifting injury in Iraq feb 08. while doing a bicept curl I was fatiged and used my back to get the weight up on the last rep.  the result was a sharp pain and audible pop in my mid back between the shoulder blades. the medic said just take some pain meds and go easy on it. about a month later the pain had not changed it was hard to sleep and the heavy flak jackets/gear we carried on the missions was unbearable also had trouble sleeping. I made an appoinment with the medical officer who had some background in sports medicine.  he adjusted my back the best he could and said i had a dislocated rib head maybe two. he also told me to use the sit up ball in the gym to self adjust/pop the area. the pain never went away and even got worse. I visited the medical officer again with the same advice after returning home i went to several chiropractors until i found one who i felt was  finally a chiroprator that is interested in results not just a co pay. we took some xrays he said it doesnt look like the rib heads are dislocated or subluxated, the lower spin (where i had developed some pain with both hips)he said was flat and should curve in towards the stomach. my neck curve seemed to be ok, i was leaning slightly to one side which he said caused my head to tilt the other. my chiropractor who i really do trust has me come in at least once a week first he uses a vibrator on my back then i do warm up rotation excersizes on a wobble chair, i then use a cervical tration device to stetch my neck and strengthen the curve in the neck, I get adjusted, and last i wear a head and shoulder weight for 15 min while walking arround and balancing on a balance board. after the first two adjustments my back pain wasnt constant anymore and only came around once in a great while. after playing rugby my back was bothering me and has been through 2 adjustments. I hope i didnt ruin my progress but at the same time dont want to be unable to exsercise. currently my upper left shoulder constantly bothers me as well as my left hip/lower back. I have a hard time not popping them with the uncomft that follows if i try to ignore it. if i dont pop my back/shoulder/neck for a while i get a sharp pain in the back shoulder elbow and pinky side of my wrist. if i dont pop my hip/lower back I have a sharp pain in my left testicle. my question is am i on the right path and do you have any advice.

Answer
I would recommend you see a chiropractor on a regular basis and try not to pop or align yourself.
Usually the continued need to pop or click or align yourself gives temporary relief BUT this means that some other segments are restricted somewhere else.
I find that once we identify the Hypomobile segment (the bone or bones that are locked up the other segments don't need to be self manipulated.
I also believe that Chiropractic care is now 100% covered for Veterans and active military.
