Question
Dear Rusty,
My husband developed a small pea sized lump on the outside of his wrist about two years ago and it went away but has recently come back but harder and larger than before it is painful when pressed and seems to be connected to the bone ie. I cannot reach under the lump. Do you think it is arthritus he is 32yrs old and often complains it is worse when under mental stress he also complains of pins and needles in his hands when he wakes upon a regular basis I have told him to go to the doctor but he says it doesn't seem too serious but the lump is quite large and pronuced about 12cm above the wrist and in diameter like a sphere. Any advice you have is very appreciated. Tanks and Best Regards, Danielle

Answer
Danielle,

I am sorry to hear about your husband. Sorry to hear that he has this problem on his wrist and sorry that he will not see a doctor. There are several things it could be and most are treatable. Yes it could be arthritis. It could also be a bone spur, tendonitis or a cyst. The best advice I have is to see a doctor. Early treatment for any of these is best and putting it off not only makes the treatment more difficult but could also cause other problems in the future.

I wish your husband good health.

Rusty
