Question
i have been diagnosed with ra and have been prescribed methotrexate 25mg per week. As this is an anti cancer drug and ra destroys the auto immune system, does this mean ra is a form of cancer?

Answer
No, here's more on RA: http://www.medicinenet.com/rheumatoid_arthritis/article.htm

In low doses like we take for inflammatory disease, methotrexate acts to calm the inflammation and slow the damage it can cause. It can still cause some side-effects, like nausea, even in the low dose, and you need to take folic acid with it. If the oral medication causes too much nausea, talk to your doctor or nurse about injecting it.  I did this and found it much easier to tolerate.
