Question
I have suffered a broken heel and still in a cast. The orthopedic that I have been seeing has me in a cast for 12 weeks. At the end of that 12 weeks, I will begin physical therapy. I was wondering how long the physical therapy process is with a fracture of this magnitude? What is the noraml process for physical therapy?

Answer
Progress after an injury like this can vary considerably.  12 weeks is a long time to be in a cast and you can expect significant weakness and stiffness once you have it removed. It will take several months for you to regain your pre-injury level.
