Question
I was in an accident (age 62) and had surgery 6/07. Last month my surgeon told me to wait until 6/08 and all would be ok. I no longer believe this.  I have constant grinding pain in hip and groin when moving. I have a 5/8 short leg and 3/8 insert but still limp. I use a cane and can't stand or walk very long. When sitting on the floor, my leg is rotated all the way to the right. My thigh hurts when walking. Had metal on metal parts.I had a bone density test 5/07  Wow score was normal and T-score was 0.9. 5 ft 7in and weight 157 lb. In good health but need my life back. Thank you for any advice you can give me.

Answer
Hi CT

I am so sorry for your pain.  Please get a second opinion.  Most insurance plans will pay for a second opinion.  If you are still limping after the insert, you are limping due to the pain.

You should not have to be living in pain like that.  I would suggest going to the largest hospital in your area, see if you can find a teaching hosptial and find out who is the orthopedic chair of the department and see if you can get a consult.

Much luck to you!

Sharon
