Lump Around Incision
9/21 14:16:05

Question
I had a total hip replacement about 7 weeks ago. I also have a lump in the incision area that makes it very uncomfortable to sit. Did your lump ever go away? If so, how did you make it go away? Thank you.

Answer
Hi Bob

Although you may be feeling fine, seven weeks is not a long time into your recovery.

Have you asked your doctor what the lump is due to?  It may be that you are still swollen from surgery, or it may be scar tissue.

If it is the prosthesis, (and I also have a lump from one of my surgeries) I don't know that there is anything to do for it.

You first need to speak with your orthopod to ascertain what is causing the lump.
