Question
I broke the bone behind my pinky toe in my right foot about 6 weeks ago. I have been wearing a walking cast and have had several appointments that have shown progressive improvement in the X-rays.

My goal is to return to Police Training on Jan 30. Is this a realistic goal. The training will include lots of running, kicking, weight lifting, marching etc.

Will there be any pain caused by weather etc. after it heals.

Will I need physio or will the discomfort in my ankle subside with regular use.

I am a 31 year old, male in excellent health. 5`11 225 lbs

Thank You

These Chicago Podiatrists, Elmhurst Podiatrists & South Loop Orthopedic Podiatrists say.......

Dear Ian,

Regarding your fractured metatarsal. Avoid activity until the exam. Try to get shoes that have good padding and support for the previously injured area. It's O.K to use a light wrap, or athletic tape to protect. If you feel any discomfort in the walking boot-then do something to make the discomfort zero. Any pain indicates movement of the fracture site-which slows down healing.
Should not need physical therapy or have problems with weather changes.
A more realistic goal for total activity would be 12 weeks
Hope This Helps
