Question
I had a chevron osteotomy procedure as part of a bunionectomy that seriously shortened my toe, which has adversely impacted my balance and ability to grip with that foot. The bunionectomy procedure was unsuccessful and opinion is mixed on whether to correct or not through a "lapidus arthrodesis" procedure. But if I do, is it possible or feasible to restore the lenth of my toe at the same time?

Answer
Dear Mel,
This Chicago Podiatrist located in West Loop 60661,Roscoe Village 60618,Elmhurst 60126 & Bartlett 60103 says...
For your chevron osteotomy correction......
Ask for a lengthening osteotomy. The Lapidus may be a shortening procedure-may depend on how far out the first metatarsal is from the second metatarsal-inter-metatarsal angle.
Continue to seek second opinions. Go see a Board Certified Podiatrist who has performed many, many of all the procedures for bunions & their complications.
Hope This Helps!
and
Good Luck!
