Question
My daughter, who is 12, experienced a migraine on January 4, 2204.  It lasted 6 days.  The migraine has broke but she is still experiencing chronic headaches everyday, all day long.  She has since developed a tic on the right side of her body.  Hand and leg (sometimes her eye) just keep jerking.   She has been out of school for 3 weeks now.

She has been to a neurologist who has put her through sinus films, cat scans, and an MRI.  All results were negative (thank God!).  The doctor then put her on Neurontin for her pain.  This has help a little, but the headache is not gone and being so young, I don't like the idea of her being on pain meds for a long period of time.

Can a chiropractor help with this problem?  What type of treatment do you think he/she will perform?  Also, is it safe for a child go seek treatment in the form of chiropractic care?

Thank you for help!!

Answer
as you may know, migraine headache pain is associated with abnormally high intracranial blood pressure and this pressure can lead to very serious, even fatal consequences, such as stroke. the cause of such problems is usually a misaligned atlas (c1) vertebra. this misalignment needs to be precisely corrected and kept corrected by someone who knows what they're doing. let me make very clear i AM NOT recommending your commonplace imprecise manipulation of the neck. i am talking about making a careful analysis of the misalignment, including x-ray, then gently and precisely adjusting the vertebra according to the specific need.i recommend you seek out an experienced HIO METHOD chiropractor for this purpose. i would accept no substitues. (i have successfully used the type of care described above to help many people who are now former migraine sufferers, including children.)
