Question
I was diagnosed with degenerative disc disease
of the cervical and lumbar.
The cervical I have 3 narrowing discs with bone spurs and narrowing of spinal canal. The lumbar is
just about the same with a buldging disc.
Also have archilles tendonitis.
Do you thing physical therapy would help or a chiropractor.
Was told no nerve damage.
My symptoms are as follows, muscle weakness in
both arms,shoulder pain,neck ache and
both knees and ankles ache all the time ,feels like a constant toothache.

What are you suggestions
Thanks
Debbie

Answer
Hello Debbie,

Just to be on the safe side you may want to see a nuerologist.  Muscle weakness can be a sign of nerve impingement/degeneration, if the weakness continues to become worse you will want to get in immediately.  Chiropractic treatment may greatly reduce tension and increase joint mobility of the spine and other affected joints in your body.  Exercise to your ability and pain tolerance this will slow down the degenerative joints.  Physical therapy helps, you will learn exercises to strengthen the joints and stretches to maintain joint mobility.

Hope all goes well,
Dr. Brendon O'Brien
