Question
QUESTION: I have been getting sore feet when getting out of bed. This has been getting progressively worse over the last few months. It is now starting to affect my knees as well. It seems to be worse after getting out of bed but also after I have been sitting on the couch or in the car. It will lesson after I walk around a bit.  I am a 52 year old otherwise healthy lady, I weigh around 150 lbs, so I don抰 think I抦 terribly overweight.  Any advise. Thanks, Gillian

ANSWER: Gillian,

These are not unusual symptoms for those of us that have reached the age of 52. I turned that age in September. These are classic symptoms of age related osteoarthritis. The best thing to do is see your doctor to make sure that there is nothing more serious going on. It could possibly be a more serious type of arthritis. Finding out early is important because the earlier you start treatment the better. It is is osteoarthritis then this is a very manageable condition.

I wish you the best.

QUESTION: What do you suggest I should take to manage this? Gillian

Answer
The answer is the same. See your doctor to make sure that it is not something more serious.

If it is osteoarthritis then the doctor will have recommendations. You can supplement that with omega 3 fatty acids. Omega 3's are not only good for helping to control inflammation but also are good for your heart as well. Here is some information about omega 3.
