nerve problems on toes and top of foot

Question
@ 1 & 1/2 years ago I tripped and fractured top of foot.  My foot bent backwards so that my toes touched my calf.  It healed real well in @ 6 months.  Lately, severe pain in my toes and top of foot has started again.  Pain is in exact same place as before.  On nerve pain medicine but it does not help.  Pain is excruciating at times when anything touches the top of my foot or toes. xray does not show a nueroma and doctor wants to refer me to a pain management clinic.  Please offer suggestions.  Thank you very much.

Answer
This Podiatrist Says....
That is not a bad idea. The pain Clinic may be able to diagnose a nerve injury and may be able to treat it. Also get a consult from a podiatrist who is Board Certified in Orthopedics or Surgery.
He/she should have a good idea what is causing the pain..
You will need fresh x-rays and a possible MRI. Sometimes a surgical procedure may be done for a trapped nerve in the foot-but I'm not so sure that that is the problem. It may be an injury to the joints in the area of the injury. The treatment would be different
Sounds like you need a good diagnosis. If the doctor can't explain the pain-then continue to seek consults until someone makes sense to you.

Hope this answers your question
Good Luck
