Question
age 68 male.I had two disc surgery thirty years ago and had myelography done on first one.my question is this, when i have xray done a section in lower spine show blank spot.like clear spot.is this the dye left over?and does it cause a problem later on.thank you for your time.Larry.

Answer
Dear Mr. Prashaw,

Contast materials used for myelography have evolved extensively over the years from iodized oil to the current water soluble agents which are much safer.
If you have concerns regarding the contrast material left in your spine, I would advise you obtain the name of the exact material used in your procedure, and I will find a reference for all the known complications for that specific agent.

Sincerely,

Dr. N. Rahamimov
