Question
My husband fell from a roof and broke two places in his neck and crushed areas in his lower back which left him paralysis from the waist down. It has been five months since he fell. My question is that he is worried that the paralysis is moving up above the waist because he feel tringling and numbness. Can this happen? He also broke his ribs and I think maybe that may have something to with what he is feeling. Thank you for you help.
God Bless,
Patty

Answer
Hi Patty,
Thanks so much for your question.

I doubt seriously that your husband's paralysis is moving upward. I have never heard of a case of a paralysis getting worse unless there was further damage that was undetected.

If the trauma to your husband's neck had more damage than the doctors knew about, I suppose there could be some loss of sensation and/or weakness in the muscles but in my opinion, it is unlikely that this has happened.

I don't think the broken ribs are contributing to his numbness but to be sure, I would suggest that you ask his doctor to do an MRI to locate the source of the problem.

I'm sorry I could not give you a more definitive answer. If you have anymore questions, please feel free to ask me anytime.

Thanks again,
John McKinzie
