Question
what medication can i get for excessive sweating?I am a (sci)person.I have horrible sweating from the top of my breasts and under arms as well as my complete head and neck.I am a c-7 injured patient. I also have problems with horrible spasms. My legs spasm and tighten up my abdominal area and take my breath away.the only way I can control them is to have someone to either bend them or turn me to my side.Is there a medication I can take to stop the spasms and especially to contain or to stop the sweating??????Please help me I would really appreciate it.....

Answer
It sounds like you might be experiencing autonomic dysreflexia which can be life-threatening for SCI patients.  Typically, people with C-7 injuries don't sweat much unless there's an underlying problem.  The usual causes are bladder trouble, bowel problems, or skin issues.

The leg spasms may or may not be related to the sweating.  The usual drug given for spasms is Baclofen although Valium and other drugs are also used.

I strongly suggest seeing your doctor about the sweating and while you're there, ask about the spasm medications.  I would not delay this any longer than necessary.

Thank you for your question, Katherine. I hope that my answer leads you to the appropriate help.
