Question
I was in a single car accident June 2008.  I broke my neck and underwent
surgery; they had to fuse c4 to c5 and c6 to c7.  I am able to walk and
perform everything else normally, for the most part.  I still cannot totally feel
my feet and lower legs.  My right hand still does not work right.  It tingles and
my pinky finger is still kind of numb.   My doctor sent me for an MRI last
week and they said there is a "foreign object" in my neck, which could be the
cause of my severe headaches.  My question to you is do you have any idea
what this object could be?  And what would you believe they will do?  Do you
think they will have to go back into my neck?  I am very confused and worried
about this.  The doctor hasn't called back yet, I'm sure because of
Thanksgiving.  Any information you give me would be very helpful.  Thank
you.

Answer
Dear Cat,  I am not a doctor, so what I say is only my opinion. I would guess the  "foreign object" in your neck is possibly some bone fragments. Whether it be bone or something else I would think they would remove it if it is possible without causing you more harm. I will keep good thoughts for your situation. With hope that the medical team you have can help you. Sincerely, Ken
