Question
Hey i have a problem im a pitcher for my high school team im 15years old and when i pitch sometime i feel a pain in my rotator cuff muscle by the teres muscles i went to a trainer they said it was a teres minor sprain i was wounder if theres a way i can strength it they told me resistance bands but i want to get it stronger im currently throwin 73 i used to hit 76 i lost some speed i guess dued to the pain if i try to throw hard it hurts thanks in advance

Answer
Adrian,

The trainer was correct; resistence bands are great for sprains. They'll help you get over the sprain and out of pain more quickly, all while keeping you from developing muscle atrophy and strengthening the muscle. These things take time; there's no 'magic bullet' that will get you back up to speed overnight. I know it's a bummer, but hang in there. In the meantime, an anti-inflammatory like aspirin will help with short-term pain relief. Good luck!
