Question
4 years ago I was his by a jet ski int the lower back. It damaged to tranverse processes and lacerated my rt kindney. I had a wound vac on for about three months. because my back filled with blood and fluid over and over and they could not keep it drained. It filled up to the size of a small watermelon. It was a large hemotoma. They put sponges deep into my back and a tube to keep suction 24 hours a day.  Now I have a sunken in area on my lower back and large knots of scar tissue. I have alot of pain evryday. Sometimes a nerve gets caught int the scar tissue and my leg hurts. I end up taking alot of vicodin for the pain. I can't find the right doctor who understands this rare injury. What do you suggest. I just want to feel good again.

Answer
Dear Jami,

I'm sorry to hear of your injury.  Sounds like you've been through an ordeal.

Apart from scar tissue, muscular contractions form in response to pain and injury.  Intermittent pain indicates muscles going temporarily into higher states of contraction and squeezing nerves that go down your leg; getting caught in scar tissue would result in constant, not intermittent, pain.

Please see my articles on pain management and completing recovery from an injury at somatics.com/page4b.htm.
