Answer
Robert,

I could use a bit more information.  What was your doctor's diagnosis.  Was it costochondritis, or "Tieze's Syndrome?"  Do you have any underlying conditions such as infection or a previous surgical procedure in the area?  Are you an athlete that has injured this area, or a weekday warrior who repetitively strains the area, e.g. mountain biking or rowing?  Your situation may be difficult to assess on the internet, and you should get a clear answer from your doctor about what things you don't have (like a tumor), and if Ibuprophen is the best choice, etc.

'Regards,

Dr. G
