Question
QUESTION: About a year ago I injured my back weightlifting. I was told by a chiropractor that I had subluxated my right SI joint. She did a manipulation and I never felt pain there again. About three days later, I began feeling dull pain in the bottom left of my back. I was told my sacrum had rotated. Many adjustments by chiropractors have not fixed the problem. I was told by one trainer that the chiropractors were performing the wrong manipulation, (which was the same one that had fixed my SI joint) and that the correct way to fix a rotated sacrum was by pushing really hard on it, or something to that effect. Over the course of a year my symptoms have become much worse and many more problems have bneen created. I have been told my pelvis is rotated and tilted, that I have functional scoliosis, and that I have thoracic spine dysfunction. I do physical therapy regularly, and that helps, but I often still get weird feelings in my muscles and tingling throughout my upper body. My bowel movements are also irregular, and I feel like I can feel them almost. I also cannot sit in a chair for very long without feeling pain. Any help you could give me would be very appreciated.

Sincerely,
Michael

ANSWER: Hi Mike,
It sounds simple enough, I would just see another DC. Obviously I can't examine you here so I can't be sure the diagnosis is even correct. The sacral adjustment described is correct if that's what it is. Have your PT put it back in since he described the correct procedure. If you have trouble finding a competent DC, let me know and I will give you a top notch referral.

A functional scoliosis is curable because it is due to muscle imbalance and not congenital structural deformity. Make sure you get this addressed with electrical stim and excesses or the adjustments will never hold.

Good Luck!

QUESTION: Dr. Durnin,
The adjustment referring to the pushing really hard on the sacrum is correct? Also, do you know of a good chiropractor who will perform this adjustment in the Cambridge/Boston region. Also, is this still possible to correct even though it has been a year? Thank you for your help
ANSWER: The answer to all your questions is yes. I'll get a list when I get home from clinic.

QUESTION: Dr. Durnin. I do not really know how I get it addressed with electrial stim and I dont know what excesses are. Thank you very much for your help. I need these adjustments to work so I can get my life back. Where are you located? Do you know of a chiropractor near Boston that will do all of these things?  Sorry for all the questions
ANSWER: I can't believe it didn't go through, I found and talked to a Dr and sent you his name and phone number, this site is unstable at times. His name is Dr. Michael Costa 617-323-5040
2101 Centre St Boston

He went to the best school NCC and is extremely qualified, he is expecting your phone call.

I meant to say exercises, structural scoliosis is correctable because it is due to muscle spasm vs structural scoliosis which is congenital and permanent if not corrected at a young age.

E-stim (Low Volt) contacts these muscles speeding up correction.

Good Luck!

QUESTION: Thank you for the help. I pray that this will work. Do you happen to know of a Dr. Cooper in Dallas Texas? I might see  him while I am there for about a week. Thank you

Answer
Do you mean Dr. Ken or Erza Cooper? I need more specific info. As I explained earlier, I called and set you up with Dr.Costa only to get slammed with an 8 because it didn't get to you in time. I sent this info but it never got posted because this site was having problems. I do my absolute best to volunteer my help to anyone that asks, all I ask in return is a decent rating. I am sorry there was some apparent miscommunication but I would appreciate it if you would have that changed by asking Katie at http://www.allexperts.com/user.cgi?m=10&subject=Feedback.

In the mean time I will wait to find out which doctor it is and call them after I review their qualifications.

Thank you!

Dr.T
