Inappropriate Adjustment?

Question
Hello,
I have gone to this chiropractor to be adjusted and I think he is overstepping the line. When he adjusts my tailbone he slides his hands under my pants and underwear, even if I have pants that you can feel my tailbone. He also did that in the front to feel my pubic bone. I am really scared I don抰 know what to do. He does other things and I am not sure if they are the appropriate way to adjust me. This is only the 2nd chiropractor I have been to in my life. The first one only worked on my neck. Could you give me some advice please?

Answer
Hannah,

Please report this to your state's licensing board!  Please take this seriously.  It is up to you to prevent what clearly sounds like a boundary violation.  There is absolutely no reason for a chiropractor or any other doctor to slide a hand underneath clothing to basic joint manipulation.  If you had a specific coccyx problem or a problem at the pubic bone that required professional clinical examination, then there should have been very direct description of what was going to be touched and in what way, and you would have given consent to allow it or not.  Otherwise, there is no reason for what you described.  It is your responsibility to blow the whistle on this!  Call your state's board of registration (licensing board) and voice your complaint.   Find another chiropractor...

Please follow my advice on this.  I'm sorry you experienced this inappropriate behavior.

Sincerely,

Dr. G
