Question
I have seen the chiropractor three times, with little relief.  He says he doesn't want to do too much as not to irritate the nerve. I can't sleep in bed because I can not find a good position.  This happen 2 weeks ago. Now he tells me that this might take 4-6 weeks with 3 visits per week.  Does this sound right and shouldn't I be getting better.  My toes and calf of leg feel like they are numb. Please help.  Thank you.

Answer
Patricia,
The Chiropractor is correct in telling you that it may take some time, knowing how much time to tell you is baloney.  This is known by only God and Mother Nature.  However, you should be noticing some relief after a few visits.
The big thing that concerns me is if you are seeing the right type of chiropractor.
You see, there are various techniques and philosophies within the chiropractic profession even though chiropractic was originally designed to be only one thing to all people. The problem is that over the years many doctors of chiropractic have started their own techniques and their own schools teaching what they wanted it to be, so therefore we have many different types of chiropractors and therefore a different patient experience with different results.
For example, does your chiropractor take specific x-rays of the spine?
Does your chiropractor take nervous system readings to see if there is interference in the nervous system?
Does your chiropractor manipulate your spine on every visit?  If so, does he manipulate more than one area of the spine?
Does your chiropractor put you on machines, or use modalities such as electrical stimulation or massage or spinal decompression?  Does your chiropractor put weights attached to your head as a tractioning device?
Answer these questions to me so I can get an idea if you are in the wrong chiropractors office or not.
I will look for your reply.
Yours in Best Health,
Dr Rob Arnone
