Question
We are considering the Clear Institute for our daughter (14) with a 32T AIS.  The Clear Institute claims that they can help reduce the curve and then maintain that reduction with there series of daily regimented exercises.  What is your opinion on these claims?

Answer
John,

My opinion:  When Dr. Woggon can publish a valid piece of research to prove any validity to his treatment protocols, then I'd support him 100%.   Until then, there is no sure method of reducing scoliosis.  As Dr. Woggon if you'll get all your money back if the scoliosis does not improve by any significant degree (about the amount it could improve by doing anything else).   Claims are like armpits...everybody has them.  Data is data.  There is a scoliosis journal online from www.biomedcentral.com  Maybe you can do a bit of research on your own.  My other opinion is that the treatment can't hurt, vis. it's safe.  It's just that in all the years of doctors doing exercises and trying various forms of stretching and bracing, there is little to show for it.

'Hope this helps.

Dr. G
