C7-T1 severe pain

Question
I was involved in a low speed head on collision. My dr said that, on top of muscle sprains all over, I may have a buldge or herniation in the C7-T1 disk.
My arm feels like it is burning from the inside out, severe pain, and my little/ring finger area tingles. There is also a "poking" sensation right at the center of the pain.
My dr has referred me to a chiropractor, but I'm scared. The pain, everything hurts so bad. The meds havent helped. Is it safe wi the "possibiity" of a buldging or herniated disk to have chiropractic care at this point?

Answer
DP,

Yeah.  It's safe.  Especially if you have your reflexes in tact.  If your doctor found loss of your reflex on the affected arm as well as inability to squeeze or hold your muscle strength, then he/she would likely have referred you to the spine surgeon and not the chiropractor.  The chiropractor likely will be very carefull in addressing your spine   Any treatment or exercises or home-care that makes the arm feel better should be done more, and anything that makes it feel worse should be done less.   Sometimes it is trial and error.  Either way, if you find that things slowly improve over a week (or two weeks at most) with the chiropractic treatment, then keep up with it.  If not, then get a cervical spine MRI to see what's what.

'Hope this was helpful.
