Persistent dull pain in left arm

Question
Hi,

I have had intermittent dullness/numbness in my left arm over the past 5 years. The pain is from the elbow down to the hand; sometimes the hand grip feels weak, particularly in the area beneath the last two fingers. Overall the left arm grip is weak.
The pain mostly aggravated in the nights, but for the past 2 months, it is all through the day and I am not able to function.
I also see some enlarged green veins? nerves? on the top of my hands.
Any insights would be very much appreciated. Thanks!

Answer
It is one of two things Lina.
It is either carpal tunnel syndrome or a pinched nerve in the base of your neck. If you have neck pain or stiffness it could be coming from a pinched brachial plexus nerve which controls sensation in those last two fingers (and the rest of your fingers) carpal tunnel is also a pinched nerve due to overuse injury or typing a lot.
Treatment: you can get a splint for your wrist (brace) but it doesn't really fix the problem just alleviates the pain. The best treatment is cold laser therapy for carpal tunnel syndrome. If it is a pinched nerve in the neck then Only a chiropractor can fix that without drugs and medicine. Several chiropractors use cold laser and if you can have an exam done they will be able to determine the problem and the best treatment.
Good luck
