Loss of Cervical Curve in Neck

Question
Hi! I have had sinus issues for the past 3 years. I seem to always get sick with viruses, sinus infections, etc. I decided to go see a chiropractor b/c I am getting tired of my doctors not being able to fix me!

I went to a chiropractor and he did an x-ray of my neck only (not sure why he didn't x-ray my back since I have a history of scoliosis in my family!) He said that the x-ray showed loss of cervical curve in my neck. His idea for treatment was to do adjustments to "retrain" my posture (I have bad posture) so that my neck would get back to normal and relieve some of the issues I've been having.

Does this sound like the proper treatment? I've never been to a chiropractor before this and I am a little skeptical of the treatment. He said I would need 24 visits....but it is expensive!

Thanks for any help you can give me!

Answer
Hi Mandy,

I'm sorry to say that this is not appropriate treatment.   There is no evidence that you can get your neck curve restored.   There is no evidence that the chiropractic treatments will change your neck curve any better than if you layed down on your back and used a foam wedge or rolled up towel as a fulcrum.  There is absolutely no way to predict how many visits it will take to change a neck curve, or if in fact it can be changed.   It's a crock of horse dung (sorry).  There is no evidence that changing your neck curve will change any of your symptoms, especially sinus symptoms or vulnerability to viral infections.  There is more and better clinical research to support having your vitamin-D level checked as a logical to understanding your condition.   Do you know what your vit-D (D3) level is?  If you are deficient, you'll always be prone to illness....   Feel free to email again and let me know if this was helpful.
